Professional Development Modules:

To equip students with the advantages of both cutting-edge research and practical industry applications, the Department of Life Sciences has meticulously designed two major fields—Biomedical Technology and Health Technology—encompassing five specialized programs to enhance their future career competitiveness. Furthermore, the department strengthens industry-academia partnerships by inviting industry professionals to co-develop practical curriculum content, reinforcing the integration of theory and practice, and ultimately boosting students’ employability.

1.The Biomedical Technology Cluster offers the Biomedical Research Program, the Biotechnology Industry Practice Program, and the Smart Biomedicine Program, focusing on developing expertise in bioinformatics, precision medicine molecular diagnostics, and biotechnology intellectual property regulations. The goal is to cultivate life science professionals who are well-versed in both theory and practice.

2.The Health Technology Cluster offers the Interdisciplinary Credit Program in Biotechnology Health Food and the Grape King Employment Program, emphasizing talent development in bioeconomy. The aim is to enhance students’ capabilities in marketing and strategic planning within the biotechnology health food industry.

3. Through the various programs, students not only enhance their professional knowledge and employability but also are guided toward appropriate personal development.

Industry-Academia Linkages / Industry-University Collaboration

Students gain valuable industry insights through industry-linked courses like “Applied Microbiology” and “Biotechnology Industry Practice,” which feature guest lectures by experienced professionals. These courses provide an in-depth understanding of industry trends and practices. Moreover, partnerships with numerous biotechnology companies facilitate internship placements for students during winter and summer breaks, as well as full-semester internships in their senior year, allowing them to gain practical experience and transition smoothly into the professional world.

Numerous faculty members have been honored with university-wide awards for their exceptional dedication to student mentorship. Recognizing the importance of holistic student well-being, a Student Care Committee has been established to work alongside faculty in supporting students through the complexities of personal growth and development. This heartfelt commitment to student care builds strong relationships and significantly enhances their drive to learn.

Student Honor:

The department maintains a robust academic environment, with 60% of its graduates proceeding to postgraduate studies. The department has also achieved significant success in the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Undergraduate Student Research Program in the past six years, consistently ranking first among all university departments.
